The success of our organization depends upon our volunteers.
We presently have about 100 volunteers who deliver meals in their own vehicles one day per week from about 10:30 am to noon. The schedules are quite flexible. A group of substitute volunteers stands ready on an “as needed basis,” and may be called upon as infrequently as once or twice a month.
Volunteers find the work very rewarding, beyond just the delivery of meals. In many cases, the friendly, cheerful MOW visitor is the only person the client may see during the day.
Our service is limited by the number of volunteers available. Many have served for 15 to 20 years. The search for new volunteers is on-going and critical. We welcome anyone interested in this service who can spend 1-1/2 hours a week to help deliver meals in our community. If you do not drive, you may be able to enlist a friend who does; or our coordinators will pair you with a volunteer driver. If you would like to help in other ways, there is need for administrative support in our office.
