Caring. Preparing. Providing.

Our mission is to enhance the lives of those in the community who are unable to provide or prepare their own meals.

At the Eastern Montgomery Meals on Wheels (MOW), we are committed to the delivery of fresh, nutritious food in a compassionate and caring manner, without regard to race, religion or ability to pay.

Building towards 50,000 meals a year

We deliver approximately 45,000 meals per year to 90-95 home-bound clients in our community. Clients are accepted for our service through recommendations by their physicians, nurses and/or their local social service and health agencies. Meals are purchased by MOW, at cost, from Abington Memorial Hospital and Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook.

A long history of caring

Meals on Wheels was originally developed during World War II in England when many people were displaced from their homes. In the 1970’s, as life styles were changing and people were living longer, the concept caught the attention of a group of concerned men and women in Abington who founded this volunteer, non- profit organization in this area.
